Breach of Promise Suit From Hancock
Tried in Shelby County—Mazie
Lamb Gets Verdict.

The Shelby county jury, in the ten thousand dollar breach of promise suit, brought by Mazie M. Lamb, age 23, against David H. McCord, age 30, of McCordsville, returned a verdict for the plaintiff awarding her $1,000 as a balm for her wounded affection.

The acquaintance of the couple, leading to the alleged engagement in September, 1907, extended through several years. They met in the Terminal Station at Indianapolis, the first time. On December 19,1909, the defendent D. H. McCord was married to Miss Mabelle Smith, of Oaklandon, Then Miss Lamb brought suit in the Hancock circuit court and |the case was venued to Shelby county.

One hundred and fifty post cards and letters that had passed between the two during their courtship, were displayed and readd at the trial. McCord testified that he had received a letter from Miss Lamb three hours after Miss Smith had become his wife and that the letter read, "come down at once, pay me $2,000, or I will bring suit."
