Order of Eastern Star Members Visit Aged Hsaraan Chapman.

About three hundred friends of Naaman Chapman met yesterday In the grove near his house at Oaklandon and gave him a surprise In honor of his seventyfifth birthday. He was born In Clermont • county, Ohio, but moved with his parents, to Rush county. Indiana. In early youth. He was In California from 1865 but since the latter year has lived on his farm southwest of Oaklandon. He never married. He joined the Masonic  lodge In Oaklandon In 1879 and took the Chapter and Council degrees later at MeCordsville. He was a charter member of Oakland Chapter. O. E. 8.. whose members It was that gave him the surprise. After dinner the following orogram was rendered: Music by the choir; solo, by Miss Edith Cory; duet, by Miss Edith Cory and Miss Huldah Negley; addresses. by Edward W. Felt, of Greenfield, and Mrs. J. W. McGrew, of Indianapolis. A rocking chair was given to Mr. Chapman by his friends. His sister, Mrs. Cawley, of Southport, was present.
