Oaklandon Undertaker Died After Completing Vault

Undertaker Dies

O- D. Klepfer, who for many years, has been in the undertaking business at Oaklandon, is dead. Tuesday morning he began work on a cement burial vault for the body of Mrs. Samuel Stokes, of Fortville. whose funeral he would have conducted Wednesday. He completed the work about 6 o'clock and returned to his home. A short time later his wife noticed that he was breathing with difficulty She called to her daughter, Mrs.. F. P. McCord, who was across the street, but the man was dead before the daughter reached the house.

Mr. Klepfer was born at Johnstown, Pa., in 1885. He was the son of the Rev. George Klepfer, who at one time was pastor of the First German Evangelical Church of Indianapolis. For more than fifty years he had been the only undertaker at Oaklandon, and for a long time manufactured the caskets which he sold.
